I have just moved to Neely Henry Lake and I am seeing more snakes around my pier and rocks than I have ever seen. I have watched videos of them being caught in minnow traps. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to trap them. I have been shooting them but would like to trap them also while I'm at work. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Somebody on here had a trot line they made for them. Think it was elkhunter maybe? Baited it with the frogs they caught out of their yard if I remember right.

I live in Mohawk Estates on the lakeshore slough side. I have killed 8 copper heads this year and seen at least 5 more. Napalm is looking like the way to go Reaper. LOL

Cahaba Snake Trap. They’re a really simple design but they just flat out work.

I know you can put chicken wire around a post and they will get stuck on it if they try and climb it.......I saw this technique being used to protect bird houses years ago at the Dixon Center

Probably just harmless water snakes. Not sure why you'd go to that effort for something so harmless.

You never lived in a rural area? They are part of the landscape and will be there when you are gone. I bet if you post up a picture of the "copper heads", they are corn snakes.

Well, you do live right in a perfect area for copperheads and timber rattlers. All that exposed rock don't help a bit, LOL.

There are more midland water snakes killed every year mistaken for copperheads. Damn shame too!

If you put a trot line in the water you’ll have turtles and fish to deal with. If you put in on land you’ll catch your neighbors dog or cat. Don’t waste your time with chicken wire.

Ping Pong Balls will work. Guess they look like bird eggs to them. Maintenance free long lasting and want harm non targeted critters.

Also get a couple yard cats. Good to have around.

Shouldn’t you be promoting catch & release tactics?
