Just got access to a piece of property in Fort Deposit. Just curious if anyone around there could let me know when to expect the rut around there. Or any other pertinent information I might need to know. Thanks in advance guys.

From what I've seen there are good deer that get killed all across south Alabama and a lot of it just depends on how that property and the folks that are hunting around you have been managing in the past.......... letting deer get some age on them.

I hunted for 10 years in Ellis Crossroads. The rut is mid to late January. The 800 acres was prairie soil with no year round water source so if it was a dry fall you could hunt any water you could find and get on deer. Where I was hunting the buck/doe ratio was way off so we never saw any trophy bucks and I have never seen any come from surrounding properties. I have hunted Elmore, Macon, Lowndes and Crenshaw counties and Lowndes had the lowest quality deer but I did enjoy hunting there because of the number of deer. Like Harold said it depends on how the property was managed.

Been hunting up there for a long time. The rut on our property seems to have shifted a bit. Used to the week of MLK was hitting pretty hard and would die off the last week of January. The last five yrs or so we have seen a better rut the last two weeks of season. Our place is up on Hwy 37 if that helps.

Good deer and excellent turkey depending on the property. MLK day to the end of the year is when you need to focus on being in the woods.

Late January to beginning of February is usually prime time.

My lease is off Jenkins Rd. It is a great lease with awesome members. We are blessed with such a great group of guys. Our club president is absolutely super.
