I’m pretty sure they shut down Cock of the Walk after all the lecherous debauchery that I witnessed/participated in before I left Auburn. My best friends fiancé was the manager and I had a sweet tooth for many of her waitress friends. Buckets of beer, platters of fried catfish, & smokin’ hot college chicks with plenty of daddy issues. It’s a wonder the owner ever turned a profit. Y’all gonna have me going to confessional just thinking about the good ol’ days. 🤣

Do yourself right and go to The Local in Waverly. Make reservations. 5 star!

Haven’t heard that name in some time. The cock of the walk has been shut down in LA for a looooong time! I do know their slaw recipe though 😉

I personally think Cafe 123 in Opelika is the best in the area day in and out. I took some out of town folks from work to ACRE, The Waverly Local and Zazu when they were in town for a work function. The Waverly Local won hands down and Zazu came in second.

It's a crying shame that you are coming to Tallassee in the post-Hotel Talisi era. Could've handled your stay & your food in one spot. RIP.

Sounds like the Acre is good, never been there. We took our daughter to the Hound for her birthday. Really enjoyed it.

The Hound's Jalapeno jelly appetizer is absolutely awesome.

We eat at Acre a lot. One, because we enjoy it, and two, my oldest works there. Steaks are usually a filet or ribeye, fish are salmon, snapper, and a third, depending. Right now I think it is halibut. Also have duck breast, which is excellent. Also, the pork chop is second to none IMO. We also really like the Hound and Depot. Can’t really go wrong with any of these. Hamilton’s is good, but a notch below the first three, again, that’s just my opinion.

When I worked for AU and did work at the station down there, I ate at the Hotel Talisi EVERY SINGLE DAY! Can’t beat the fried chicken they had. Good thing I was young and slaved away outside all day or I’d have weighed 400 lbs.

Seeing as there is no really good place to stay Friday night in Tallassee, I booked us a room 21 miles east, in Auburn, at the Hampton Inn.

We will be spending the night there on Friday.

Looking for recommendations on a good place for dinner for the two of us on Friday evening.

We both like a good steak joint or maybe even seafood.

Not looking for a chain restaurant but a great local place.

Where ya gonna send us?

Big Mikes, The Hound, Waverly Local for steak.

Amsterdam Cafe has a very good crabcake/avocado sandwich.
Hamiltons is good also
Don't bother with Acre overpriced and average.
Seafood go to the Depot.

The family really likes Acre, Hamilton, the Hound, Amsterdam Cafe and we recently tried Bow and Arrow and it was really good Texas style bbq.
