Technology has changed the game with the ability we have to control the dogs now and if nothing else I’m glad to see that this is being taken into consideration and not just looked at through the lens of the past……..We all have the ability to make a good judgement call in the end about how we react to a situation…….on both sides Back to the idea of being a “real hunter”…….I’ve got three dogs now for tracking…..I take them out usually once in the mornings and once in the evening and we go for a walk as a “pack”…..with me as the alpha dog……. When I go to someone’s property this fall to find a deer for them…..we’ll deploy as a “pack” with me as the Alpha and the other three on GPS collars as my subordinates who have been trained to stay together and hunt as a “pack”………Now, just as far as some primitive inner hunter type feeling goes…….To insert yourself into a “wolf pack” and go hunting for meat is about as real as it gets. ……I guess it depends on your perception of things too…..The next guy might just be turning a “dog” loose. But hey like you said…..its just opinions and everyone has the right to just to say phuck a dog too I guess.

Man I’m funning around for the most part with the “real hunter” stuff.
I know there are good folk and good dogs but I will stand firm they are in the minority.

Many positions I push are representative of the opinions of others. Just doing the “devil’s advocate” thang.

I don't know anybody that dog hunts because they NEED to. I run dogs because I want to. I kill just as many deer still hunting and my dog days outnumber my still hunting days 4:1. It's like CNC said, I get just as much out of working the dogs as I do killing a deer. There are bad dog hunters, but they are not in the majority. If a dog hunter keeps his dogs on his land, he's not the one you're running in to. What I've read of this bill, it will single out the bad apples while not effecting the good. Seems to make since to me.
May the sound of hounds never die!

There are no good dog hunters for deer And thats your opinion. And my opinion is if you dont agree with the state allowing dog huntin hunt a state that doesn't. I get so sick of everyone trying to push the way they like to hunt off on everyone else and think its the only way we should hunt.

Basically if you hunt with dogs, you BETTER LOOK AT THEM AS JUST A TOOL WITH ACCEPTABLE LOSS MUCH LIKE A BROADHEAD, RIFLE CARTRIDGES, OR A BROKEN SCOPE. Damn you are trying to push buttons... I've been at it for 40 years and I've never had a dog shot. Had a few get hit on the Hwy. Most dog hunters are good law abiding people. Just like most still hunters aren't butt holes like ol JLo up there.

I’ve been that bad dog hunter, set them loose on other folks property and “stand” or “backstand other hunters” on power and pipeline cuts, even the roads with hand signals and CB radios slinging buckshot. We would cut locks and set fires in the process. I learned from the absolute best, the Fisher Boys, Bentleys, and Colemans of Turnerville.
One of the incidents that changed my mind was when we poachers were all around the truck eating sandwiches and a yearling being run by the dogs came right up to us panting with its tongue hanging out looking for refuge.
Seems rabbits run in circles, coons go up trees, poor deer run themselves into the ground.
I’d much rather shoot the dog hunter not the dogs.
Dog hunting in 2021 = Bad Idea

Dog hunting in 2021 = Bad Idea Seems dog hunting the way you did it was a bad idea. We have never hunted like that. In the Flatwoods of Fl at least, we don't run deer into the ground. I can't really speak for dog hunting in the hills and hollers as I don't have any experience with that. The boys I know that hunt higher ground don't run deer to death though. Our deer usually stay just ahead of the dogs, the ones that decide to pull out are tough to kill. The dogs have a heck of a lot harder time getting through the water and thick crap than the long legged deer do. I imagine it would be the same in yalls terrain. I have to say, as a life long dog hunter, I really "appreciate" what you and your kind have done for the sport.
