I thought the same thing. I killed one yesterday that had a single barred feather in the middle of his fan.

I killed 2 with no spurs

The 1/2 full fan and 1/2 Jake fan is wild someone posted

That stud I hunted in Sweetwater for 3-4 years had no beard - why I never shot him - after I killed the 2 subordinates - I realized he was the one acting stupid - could not see beard but he could hv had 2 inches hid n his feathers - wish I would hav shot him

Nice career turkey hunting Fred

I got a picture/video of one in Pickens county the exact same way. No sign of a beard, but has a full fan. We nicked named him no rope. After we killed his buddy we haven’t seen him since. Can’t see his spurs in the picture either. If someone would post them I wouldn’t mind sharing the picture.

Most of the turkeys we have up here have that barring in the fan. I’ve killed birds with no spurs, and even 1 spur. I’ve also killed mature birds with short beards. I’ve never seen one like that though, no trace of a beard that I can see.

I did the same thing one season in Fl, except my beard less one was from beard rot. I joked that it took me 2 turkeys to get a whole one.

I killed one with sharp spurs and a full fan with a 2 inch beard.

It happens.

Was getting pics of this one early in the season. He was the dominate bird in the area.
