I saw her towards the end of the season right at dark. I thought she had a bald spot and didn’t think much about it. Finally got a pic of her the other day though. Hopefully she lives but Stephen has set her as his goal next year.

Was watching Dr. Kroll the other night and he said that piebald deer are a result of inbreeding and normally result in dwarfism as well. He emphasized to remove them from your herd. She does look compact.

I'd put her on the no shoot list. She ain't going to hurt a damn thing.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I’d like to see the data on that.

Rarely (if ever) do I agree with Kroll, but piebald deer are in fact more prone to skeletal deformities, sensory issues (poor eyesight being the main problem), and are typically noticeably smaller than regular whitetails. Add that on to the lack of camouflage, they have higher rates of predation as fawns because they stick out like a sore thumb. I don't know how to post a dang picture on here but there are articles with X-rays and necropsy reports on piebald deer fawns that die shortly after birth. Yes, they're beautiful and I consider myself lucky any time I see one, but if it were in my scope it'd be down and turned into a nice rug.

I killed this 9 point in Butler County in 2017. They normally run 30 pounds heavier for 3 1/2 years old. We had pictures and knew he was at least this age. It does support the dwarfism theory and inbreeding.

We have a spike that’s piebald on our place that’s much smaller than most of the smaller does, but he’ll chase a doe grunting and act like he’s the man
