I think he’s over in Europe with Team Leupold and his 10-spd gearing up for the Tour de France

Nothing wrong with that scope. But IMHO, a Leupold VX5 3x15x44 with a firedot duplex reticle is more scope for about the same money. You will be able to see the illuminated reticle several minutes after the 4a reticle is lost in the dark. Glass on the Leupold is a little better also. The Z3 Swarovski 4a reticle is my favorite, but at last light the firedot duplex on the Leupold will be better.

I've never had a illuminated rifle reticle are you able to see through the scope at dask or do you just see the site through scope?

May be my favorite of all scopes that I have owned.

Listen. For the past 25 years I carried the zeiss Swarovski kahles Leica flags everywhere I went. However, my buddy and another friend (AU338MAG) told me about The new leupold HD line. They are a game changer for Leupold.

Yes. The original vx6 got me back to leupold but the Vx5hd will be the last scopes you’ve need to buy.

I've never had a illuminated rifle reticle are you able to see through the scope at dask or do you just see the site through scope? The illuminated dot reticles work best for hunting. Most have a variable intensity reticle, which is very important. Too much illumination will flare badly in low light and you can't see the target. I have a Zeiss V4 6x24x50 with an illuminated Z MOA reticle and the whole reticle is illuminated and the flare is too much at last light even on the lowest setting. The Leupold firedot duplex is great and will not obscure the target. I can shoot later with my VX5 and VX6 illuminated Leupys than my non illuminated Swarovski scopes, even my Z6 Swaro. I've been very impressed with my VX5 and VX6 scopes.

One more note. Choosing a scope simply because it has a 50 mm objective lens is fools gold.
Hint.
