I need to build (replace) a couple of old shooting houses but WOW. Just priced it and its about double what I spent on one a couple of years ago.

Anyone have an educated guess when prices may come down some? Im hoping for a mild hurricane season, I may be hunting in a couple of spots from an overturned 5 gallon bucket.

I love my country, but don't trust my government.

I was hoping to be building a house on my property...I'm sitting on the sidelines because of the shaky economy and material costs.

Within a 5 mile radius of my 20 I'd estimate there are 50-75 new houses a month going up. Also land being prepped for 100's more.

Was going to bring it up on your shed thread due to lumber prices. Go with steel trusses, there only around $8 a foot.

I was told the other day the building cost of some patio homes are hovering around $145 a ft.

A friend built his house years ago out of steel when prices were way down. Cost wasn’t hat much more at the time. Best decision he made he says. No termites etc. it’s one of the newer homes overlooking O'Neal Bridge.

treated fence pickets, they work great. 2x2 for wall frames, and roof frame. you can also drive around the old fence pickets are being replace everywhere. most are treated, and weathered.

Got a buddy lives in a new construction neighborhood in Huntsville . He’s getting brand new 2 x’s in all kind of widths and full lengths or near it. He’s using it on all kinds of piddling projects.

Family bought a wood mizer to build 6-7 shooting houses. We have more timber than money.

We are supposed to pick ours up in GA in early April. We have been gathering logs to put on it when it gets here. Still have 5 big white oaks that we have to get out of a creek bottom. The boys and I are excited.

My daddy bought a wood mizer about ten or twelve years ago and there’s no telling how much lumber we’ve cut on it. It’s been a good investment.

I’d have him arrested if it was coming off my job site. That’s theft.

Yes it is. Still the builder's property until it is hauled off. I got a few 4x4 posts a few years ago but I called and got permission before I removed them from the dumpster.

Who did you use for the metal building? I am going the same route because of pricing. I need a few quotes.
