Marlin 444s lever action in.444 caliber with a cheaper scope and a Winchester model 12 16 ga. Any suggestions? I have a 16 gauge 870 with the corncob forend, and you can look up the year of manufacture online using the serial number. I think the letter in the serial number is the key to year of manufacture. Colt1917
