That’s ridiculous. There’s no need for any reduction in the quota. A lot of fishing didn’t even get done last year because of the storms that came through.

I'll say the regulations have worked, the RS fishery is a gozillion times better than it was. The time has come to start using real numbers(artificial and natural reefs) instead of just natural bottom to get a good biomass count of the RS. Hope " The Great American Snapper Count" works this time, something similar was done years back by notable biologist and it fell on the deaf ears of the Gulf Council.

Cutting in half is huge but lowering daily bag count from 2 to 1 is the stupidest thing I have heard, but we are talking about the feds.

We didn’t even catch the feds full allotment for 2020 last year due to rough seas, hurricanes, COVID, etc..... Now they want to cut it in half. Sounds like retaliation, vengeance, or spite, to me.

It’s got to be punishment from the feds for being a red state. Because it’s so stupid.

Yet commercial fishermen haul them in by the ton. It’s all about the money.

When I saw this I immediately thought of all of those Trump boat parades. You own a boat, you support Trump. This is retribution.

You can fish for them all you want, you just can’t use a hook on the line.
