I spent all day taking down loc-ons, including a couple that had been up for three years and the trees had grown in to the stand and sticks. Working off the ground for long periods of time standing on narrow steps takes a toll on you.

You ain’t kidding. Those loc-on’s sure are nice to sit in during bow season, but they’re getting tougher to deal with every year now.

Yeah they are hard to beat for getting in quietly and getting high, but We’ve pretty much just switched over to ladder stands.

Ladders aren’t much better to deal with IMO, awkward as hayul to haul and stand up. I’m trying to get in the habit of taking my loc ons, at least the millenniums down every year and keeping them in the barn.

I'm a climber guy. I have ALWAYS thought a deer could see ladders or sticks up against a tree and figure out that it meant danger.

I might be wrong but I have seen deer steer clear of an area after a ladder stand went up. The exception would be places like green fields.. which I never hunt anyway.
