Hey Fellow hunters,
I was thinking of trying one last hunt day this week , the only WMA near me that still has gun season going is Freedom Hills ,
Feb 3-7, , any tips , advice would be greatly appreciated, I’ve never been there before , been studying the maps before I go .
Thanks ahead of time

Don’t know as much about B side as the A side but I would Look at aerials and find a likely place on a power line if I was going in blind. Somewhere down point road. You better be there early though or someone will be in your spot.

The power lines and cut overs have really produced good bucks this year. Go deep and into those drains if you can. They produce too.

I hunted a few miles from there on sat. Watched 2 bucks about run a doe to death. I’d stick to more open areas as others have mentioned.

Me and a friend hunt mainly the rut there and this is sound advice. We also have luck hunting the transition lines leading into the thicker bedding areas.

Agree. This time of year at Freedom Hills you’ve got to hunt power lines, cutover, or hard transition lines and browse like green briars. You’ll see scrapes and rubs in the hardwoods but chances are slim to none of seeing a deer much less a buck in the open woods during daylight hours.
