Just passing along the info. I wasn't there, but the other camp members reported seeing bucks chasing does all weekend, and they killed two nice 8 points. One said they smelled the buck before they saw him. Going this weekend, so I'm hoping they keep it up for a few more days!

East or west side of the river? It is slow right now around Camden. Mature bucks were cruising hard the previous week and especially walking/cruising the weekend before this past one. Based on cell cams, starting this past Friday night, the mature bucks were pretty much holed up and tending the few early does that came in heat last week. Once they get done with those toward the early-mid part of this week, it should bust loose again as they start looking for the next ones. Cooler weather coming in mid-week will only help things. I think the latter part of this coming week and this weekend will be the hottest action this year at our place.

West side. I hope you are right!

It's been going on over in the Gee's Bend, Alberta, Catherine, and south Safford areas on the west side of the river, for the past 15 days. I saw 3 different mature bucks actually tending does in the big pastures and fields just south of Safford Friday morning, Jan 8th while driving.
