Have your mentor sit with you as you go thru each step of the process. If anything, even the smallest of things are in question, Stop right there and get him to check it for you. Understand why and what you are doing. Don't be afraid to ask him why. Have your mind dedicated to what you're doing with no distractions ..no tv, radio, kids ,etc that can mess up your process. Wear safety goggles especially when you are priming and loading powder. Never have more than one bottle of powder (open or not) on your bench. You have a set of calipers for measuring? Write down everything and keep it recorded as far as your COL. What caliber will you be starting with? If you have an electric scale for dispensing powder be sure to keep any florescent lighting 8 or more ft away, it can sometimes alter your readings. And cut off any ceiling or personal fan that may blow in the direction of the measuring scale. And move your cell phone away from your scale too 😉. BE SURE to close your door on your powder measure after you empty it...don't ask me me why, lol. What type of press did you go with, single stage or...? I'm sure others here can chime in with more tips. Congrats on starting up!! And fire away with questions if you have any. We all had to start somewhere. Post your progress and let us know how you are doing!!

One jug of powder on the bench On box of bullets One caliber on the bench Simple stuff right here ^^^ but some of the best advice you can get. Easy to get lost in the weeds of the right coal and stuff but use the wrong powder and things can go bad with one trigger squeeze. Always put equipment and supplies back in place after loading for a cartridge. Make sure you get all of the powder out of the powder measure after loading. That first shot with a 300 win mag will be very exiting if you didn't clear out the Unique powder you used loading your 9mm.

Always check your powder charge before seating a bullet. Does it look like more powder than it should? A double charge is usually easy to spot if you take the time to look.

Set up a process. Stay with it. I work from left to right. If shooting semi auto rifles use full length dies. I also like small base. Get a case gauge for rifle ammunition. Check to see if the round is too long for the magazine before taking it hunting or to the range, .308, 30-06, 8mm, 7.5 Swiss, 7.7 Japanese, and 7.5 French are all full length rimless case cartridges. They don't mix well together on the reloading bench and are even worse on the range.
On handgun ammo keep the case mouth flare as small as possible. I generally just use a deburring tool on the inside case mouth. If you do have to use a significant flare (lead bullets or coated) then after loading either do a chamber drop test with the barrel removed from the handgun you'll be using or what I do is ease them back into a sizing die with the decapping pin removed just enough to tighten the mouth tension.
Use Imperial wax on rifle cartridges, handgun doesn't seem to matter much. And when shooting pay attention to what goes out the barrel. If there is any indication that feels different then stop, clear the gun and make sure a round isn't hung up.
