Anybody hunted the Crow Creek SOA for waterfowl? Wondering how accessible it is in general - do we need ATV, boat, etc.? Is the hunting usually decent? Do not have unit assignment, but it will be for the youth hunt.

No water as of Christmas. No atv can be used. Walking only and it’s around a mile walk round trip

Thank you! Do they control the water or is it strictly rainfall?

We hunted Crow Creek last year, unit 5. Due to schedule conflicts we did not get to scout until the day before our draw hunt. Biologist said there was lots of water, and being concerned and totally uneducated about the area, I hauled my canoe up there, having no idea what to expect. It was a wasted effort. 5 was holding lots of water, but you could get all the way around the unit in knee highs. Flooding was more predominant along the creek. And yes, they had risers down on that end. However I cannot speak to units 1-4. During our hunt, there were a couple early volleys in the upper units. We did not click off safety. Had a couple groups we were working, and on the 2nd pass, yahoos in the unit next to us went to sky busting and that was that.

Echoing Hevi, take a cart with you. Long trek wearing waders and carrying gear. Good luck with the hunt!

If there's any doubt, then there is no doubt... The gut don't never lie.

You better hope there’s water. I had a buddy get drawn for 12/26/20. We didn’t even go. No water whatsoever. It’s mostly controlled by rainfall. The biologist told us beforehand there was water. He was full of chitt. I wish Courtney was still there.

I’ve hunted it once with the ability to hunt it a second time. Both times were disappointments. If you are coming from several counties away, good luck.

She left and went to another county to be over a big game wma. Her heart just wasn’t in waterfowl but she did a better job than all those before her. The dude over it now has already started out on the wrong foot with a lot of people here.

Hunted unit 2 on 1/2.
I don't know what it looked like in the past water wise but there was at least some water.
Had a decent wood duck shoot.

I can tell you where to hunt, no scouting needed, IF it has water.

Hunted 1/23 and 1/24 in zone 1. Not much water but enough water. Killed 3 woodies. Probably saw 15 or so total. No big ducks. Stayed til 11. Sunday killed one woody. Less than ten ducks seen. Nice place but a terrible year.
