I handled a sig 365 and it was really nice in the hand. I like the internal sight that replaces the external sight...nothing out front to get hung on pockets on the draw.

Sig P238 380, it's the Colt Mustang smaller frame 1911. Mine came with Nite Sites and got a Crimson Trace green dot laser. Got one for my DIL and she carries it every where. Hornady Critical Defense from back when you could find it. 7 round Colt mag with the original 6 round for a reload.

This is what my wife carried when she first started. Now, we both carry a Remington RM380 with a Crimson Trace lazer. Small enough to carry in your pocket, and point and shoot. I did put a trigger kit in it to lighten the pull.

Glock 43 is what my wife carries. She didn’t like the .38 revolver, trigger to hard for her to pull.

I would send her for professional training first. Several places have popped up nearby.

.38 S&W hammerless.

You will have a lot to choose from both from Aldeer members and from gun stores. I would go to some nice pawn shops and handle the guns. Pawn shops generally don't have those "know-it-all" gun salesmen to form an opinion in your wife's mind. Let her get a feel for automatics and revolvers, then go to the range and try a few. Don't just go with a .38 or .380, a 9 can be handled well by many new shooters. Also, remind her that she will be carrying it, so she wants something that will not be too heavy in her purses. Don't forget to get her a good carry purse. She may also want several training sessions with a master. I know you could teach her, but somehow women listen to other men more than their husbands when it comes to technical jargon. It is like they tone us out. (come to think of it, she says something like that about me)

Much depends on how well she can manipulate a slide.
Depends on purse carry, pocket carry, etc.
I went through this with my wife prob 4-5 years ago.
Lcp2 in 380 is small with an easy side. M&P 380 is larger with an easier slide.
Glock 42 slide is stiffer (not bad) and in between these two size wise.
Take her and let her rack some slides for free, hold some, then decide.
She hated revolvers (trigger pull, accuracy, recoil, noise, etc.)
Lcp2 in 380 is hard to beat imo

See what ammo you can buy then find gun in same caliber. Lot of new gun owners have a brand new 9mm/380 and 1 box of ammo that came with it. Not enough to practice and get proficient to be comfortable shooting much less concealed carry.

We started to look at the 380 EZ, but the wife saw a teal Walther PK380. The slide is easy to pull and now I have another appetite to feed with ammo. Kinda sucks, but I enjoy having a common hobby.

Don't focus so much on what she shoots the best and "feels' best. She needs a gun that she does that with for the range and then one that she will carry that is lightweight and she will know how to pull and shoot when needed. My wife carries a Glock .380 and has a sneaky pete holster she carries and also a purse that is a "carry purse" with s slip on holster for easy access. She doesn't enjoy shooting the gun but it's hard to carry the large .357 that is more comfortable to shoot. Maybe that will help you understand the point I was trying to make.

All great suggestions. The S&W EZ is a good choice.

Can’t go wrong with a Glock. I’m sure she can handle 9mm with no problem even if it takes a few range sessions for her to get comfortable with it. And I’d recommend whichever one she’s most comfortable with and has the largest ammo capacity. Check out some YouTube channnels like Warrior Poet Society and TRexArms or Mr. Gunsngear. Lots of reviews and recommendations from those guys.

Light, accurate, no fear of jamming with with weak grip like a semi can have.

Whelp.....me and my wife went to Mark's outdoors because I figured they would have a good selection. The gentleman that helped us provided good info but was kind of an ass. Keep in mind my wife has never shot a pistol and is afraid of them. She dry-fired about four guns. The salesman gave some advice on trigger finger placement. My wife a few moments later dry-fired like she had originally with the same finger placement. The guy reacted in a somewhat condescending tone and said "Ma'am you see your doing the same thing every time...you have to do it this way...etc." We looked at each other and told the salesman we will think about our options, told him I appreciated his time and left. My wife cried when we got back in the truck. I told her I was proud of her for holding and dry firing the guns...she really did good for her!

We both want to take a course after she finds the gun she wants. I'm very comfortable with shotguns and rifles but not near as m much with pistols so it would be beneficial to us both. Anyways......she liked the hammerless revolver style of pistol so we will find somewhere else to buy a gun. I really appreciate all the help fellas!
