OK... This is a serious thread, but I doubt it will stay that way for long. Here goes anyway.

I have posted before in a couple of other threads that I am 100% certain that I have seen a Mountain Lion up here on two separate occasions. Once at dusk on the road out of here just as you cross over into National Park Service land. It was crossing the road in front of my truck. Mrs. Irish was with me and she saw it too.

The second time was about 0900 in the morning and I was between my buddy's house and ours and again another one crossed the road in front of my pickup just as plain as day.

Last night my buddy Rodney and his girlfriend Hope came over for some drinks and a chili cook, and they showed us these pictures from their game camera. Their cabin is over on the Little River Canyon Rim, butted up to the National Park Service land. I'm not saying it's a Mountain Lion. I'll let you guys be the judges... Let the fun begin.

By the way for scale, that's a pile of pine logs on the right that it's passing and the pine logs are at least 14" - 16" in diameter. I'll try to get better pics from him today. He just took these off his screen with his phone and texted them to me last night while we were hanging out.

That's what I thought too initially, but when you see the pics in person, I don't see any rings on the tail, and look at the logs for scale. It would seem like an awfully big coon.

When I google pictures of a mountain lion just for comparisons sake I see this: a man sized animal with limbs nearly the size of my legs, paws the size of softballs, and a tail that looks to be about 5 foot long and large in diameter. Not seeing that in the picture, it looks like a racoon.

No big cats in Alabama. Just Florida and South Georgia. They know better than to cross state lines.

Do they have a pic of a deer in that spot. That doesn't look large enough for cougar. They are 100lb animals.

Coon is the first thing that popped in my head too.

This is why hunting accidents happen.....people can’t tell the difference in a mountain lion, a bobcat, or a coon. It’s not even close, that is 100% cald

You're crazy. If that had been a cald, the camera would have been destroyed.

I believe your other incidents about one jumping across in front of your truck because the same happened to my dad and I back in the 80,s in Sumter county. We were on a dirt where port of epes is now. No doubt what we saw it was only 20 feet in front of us when it crossed. I believe that pic you posted is a coon though

Raccoon. I don’t doubt you’ve seen a mountain lion, but that ain’t it.

Bobcat....walked around in the dark, in and out if the canyon and all over the management area for 30 years. No mountain lions. Grandparents owned the Canyon Land park before they sold it and it shut down. They DID release all the animals in the zoo portion by opening the enclosures. Interesting sounds at night in the canyon after that for awhile to here my dad and the other older local gents talk about it. Would have been late 60s into the 70s.
