Whether I would mount the deer or not has nothing to do with my decision to shoot or let him walk. Most of mine end up as euro mounts or handles anyway, as I am running out of wall space and I have more critters on my bucket list. That deer looks to be at least 4 years old, maybe more.

I personally would try to see if he had a pedicle on the other side at all. Sometimes, skull injuries keep them from ever growing another antler. I have watched the same deer for 3 years on a club in Alabama. He's off limits because of one of their rules about spread instead of age. Last time I saw him, he was 5 years old and still had one antler and a haired over pedicle on the other side.

If I see that one again this year, I will shoot and pay the fine if there is one. On your deer, if you just see smooth hair on the other side, then I would shoot. If you don't have 1000 acres plus, you can bet someone will shoot, and it may as well be you.

I was just saying what happened. No need to be a dick! By the way I lease to the land to the neighbor, so I knew it could happen.

You called him a "damn neighbor" and said it "made you sick". Whatever, have a nice day and good luck hunting.

Shoot if
A) Your neighbor tells you he is actively hunting that deer.
B) Its the last hunt of the season and you've only killed 2 bucks.
C) Your wife pissed you off, and killing something would make you feel better.
D) It's the apocalypse, and your family is starving.

Pass if
A) You've got a freezer full of venison.
B) You've got other bucks to shoot.
C) You're curious about how he'll be next year.
D) If you have found a broken off side.

One thing for sure you kill it , it won't be there next year

Kill this deer you might as well ever buck you see

You want the meat , bust him then . Either way that's all you'll have in the end

Depends on location and if it has been broken off. Be a nice rattling horn

Was it like this last year? Do you think it will be broke off next year? If you feel confident there are other deer near this size are there to replace it take it. Does this deer stay home year around or roam? Lot to go into decision depending on your deer herd and surrounding shooters. Hard to save a deer in some places.

Walk. Hope his right pedicle isn't damaged. But let walk and follow him next year as he sheds and puts on a new rack! It'll be fun!

Wasn’t like that last year. It’s a small property just over 300 acres with a handful of older mature bucks, I’d like to see what he is next year if he can make it.
