May have an opportunity to hunt in Coosa County this year, south of Rockford. When is rut in that area?
Thanks

We used to hunt across the river and it was always early to mid January, might catch some pre rut cruising if they are on the same time frame.

I’d be in the woods as much as possible around the middle of January

Never seen it quite that early, at least in the southeast corner of the county. Not saying a doe or two couldn't come in early and cause the chase to be on. My dad did find a fresh scrape last week.... I usually have bucks on camera that I have not one picture of, starting Christmas day or just after.

We call Jan 6th "Big Buck Day". Seems like someone in our group always manages to kill a buck on Jan 6th. That being said though, I've seen rut activity from the first week of Jan to the first week of Feb. Never really seen a good solid rut here.

A place I used to hunt on hatchet creek just north of Rockford is the most consistent rut I’ve ever seen, I killed a good buck almost every year between the 15th and the 20th of January every season, either chasing or following a doe

Have seen some good buck movement the week after Xmas and they will start pushing does from the 7th until the end of the season. This is on the Elmore/ coosa line
