We used to hunt across the river and it was always early to mid January, might catch some pre rut cruising if they are on the same time frame.

I hunted in Rockford for years. Seem always kick up around the 10th of Jan Wide open chasing this day or a day either side of it.......... David

David m Some years at this time wide open chasing Never seen it quite that early, at least in the southeast corner of the county. Not saying a doe or two couldn't come in early and cause the chase to be on. My dad did find a fresh scrape last week.... I usually have bucks on camera that I have not one picture of, starting Christmas day or just after. David

A place I used to hunt on hatchet creek just north of Rockford is the most consistent rut I’ve ever seen, I killed a good buck almost every year between the 15th and the 20th of January every season, either chasing or following a doe
