Just wondering. How many of you guys would agree to work 4 12s, Monday through Thursday, with the possibility of 8 hours on Friday. Also, you might would have a Saturday or Sunday mixed in on short notice, if needed. What says the Aldeer army?

From my experience and ifs and maybe with schedules turns permanent.

I work a 24 on 48 off schedule. When we get held overtime you stay for an additional 48 hours and only get 48 off. We get held overtime every other shift and I am never at home. When I am off I’m tired and dreading going back. I would like a job where I’m home at night and on holidays.

That doesn't sound all that good, but I guess it depends on the pay/financial state you're in, family situation and lifestyle etc.

I've seen that, but this isn't the case.

That's really why I asked. Wanted the opinion of real men who know the value of a fair day's work for a fair day's pay.

The financial payoff better be good. 4 straight 12s is murder.

Past Ol’ man Finley’s plac...

I worked 56 hours a week (four 12 hours days and 1 eight) for 7 months last year. I knew it was temporary but it was awful.

Not if you don't mind working.

I work a 2-2-3 swing days. We do have to cover vacation on the opposite shift so I'm on my 7th out of 9 straight. Its really not so bad. In my younger days, a days work was a real days work. Now I get paid for what I know with a little work mixed in.

So we are M-Th, 12 hours. But we can shift the schedule. Worked Sunday-Wednesday this week for Thanksgiving. I get that option in return of I had to work 6 hours today. And have to be back Sunday morning. I don't mind it for the money. There's an underlying issue.

I hope to get to that point one day.

This, been there done that. Was once told when starting a job of a "little overtime every now and then".
Ended up being 12 hrs./day/7days/wk. for 3 mos. at a time.
Screw that.

I now work 4 days a week , 10 hrs. a day.

Not enough info, in my opinion. How old are you? Married with kids? How old are they? What’s your financial state ( none of my business, just bringing up a point)? When I was younger (early to late 20’s), I worked in the mines with an equipment service company. Every other week, I worked 7 days a week, on average of 12 hour shifts, and on call 24 hours a day. On the other weeks, I worked M-F, 8 hour shifts. I did that for 8 years. It was okay. A little hard with a young wife on holidays and such but for the most part it was okay and the pay was great. Now that I have three kids, all in sports, and in a better financial place, it wouldn’t be worth it to be gone from them that much.
