Yep. My first rifle was a Marlin 336C .30-30 and then I got an old trusty Remington 760 Carbine pump .308. Does everything I need it to do.
Deer aren't that hard to kill in reality. Shoot within your and your weapon's ability and it's pretty easy.

Nothing wrong with the 6.5's. Ive never had the creedmoor but have had 6.5 swede,6.5 grendel and 6.5 rem magnum. All are super flat and will kill any deer. Now a creedmoor cant do what my 338 will.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

What's crazy is it seems that 30-06, 25-06 and 300 mag seem to be the only ammo you can find right now.

It don't matter to me what another fella shoots his deer with...

...unless it's a 6.5.

I automatically assume anyone carrying a 6.5 calls everyone "bro" and their truck squats like it's pulling an invisible trailer.

Nothing at all wrong with them. It is a fine caliber. However the hype is completely insane, trying to make it out to be some super cartridge. I bought A Creed for my wife to hunt with. I like it a lot as a low recoil option for sensitive shooters. Several deer have been killed with it and I was pleased with the results. To say it makes all other calibers obsolete, as some have, is complete nonsense.

The Hunting show Media promoted the 6.5 like no other I've ever seen.

You know the old joke : " Why do you shoot a magnum Daddy ? "

"So they don't run off Son ".

You’ve been referring to cartridges, not calibers.

I hear you guys always talking about this but the latest greatest hasn't made its way to rural Missouri yet. I have never seen a 6.5 and I only know one guy with a 308 and it is an old one he got when his grandpa died. Everybody I know shoots a 30-06, 270, or a 30-30. Though a some younger guys I know have 300 win mags, 7 mags, and a 30-378 weatherby mag (they don't like meat as much as me).

Though I still see way more 10 gauges than 20's in the turkey woods, so it may take a little longer to adapt. Anyway, I need to chamber a 270 round and head out in this wind storm (50+ mph today).

I bought a 270. Just would not put them down like the ol 06. Took the scope off of it after 2 seasons and about 8 deer. and went back to where I belong. Fine caliber. Not for me.

2 with Hornady Interlock. The rest with130 Gr Noslar Partitions Chronographed at 3200 through both lungs and heart. All but one, which dropped, ran anywhere from 50 to 100 yards, leaving very little if any blood. All dead deer, but I do not like to look for them especially with no blood. Two of those deer I did not find until the next day due to poor blood trail. The meat was ruined. All the numbers suggest that it should be the perfect deer caliber. My experience was less than desirable. You might be right, maybe a different bullet would help with this problem, but after loosing two deer I was done with it. What bullet do you shoot in the .270.

I’ve killed at least 20 with a 270 shooting 130 grain partitions anywhere from straight down to 250 yards and never had to look very hard for one of them.

No, those trucks are squatting to pee, just like their owners.

.270 Hornady 140gr BTSP are my go to bullets. Can't seem to find them much anymore since they went to the American Whitetail stuff.
