Just think, I was hunting with a 308 before the 308 was cool. Yep. My first rifle was a Marlin 336C .30-30 and then I got an old trusty Remington 760 Carbine pump .308. Does everything I need it to do. Deer aren't that hard to kill in reality. Shoot within your and your weapon's ability and it's pretty easy.

Nothing wrong with the 6.5's. Ive never had the creedmoor but have had 6.5 swede,6.5 grendel and 6.5 rem magnum. All are super flat and will kill any deer. Now a creedmoor cant do what my 338 will.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

It don't matter to me what another fella shoots his deer with...
...unless it's a 6.5.
I automatically assume anyone carrying a 6.5 calls everyone "bro" and their truck squats like it's pulling an invisible trailer.

It is a fine caliber. However the hype is completely insane, trying to make it out to be some super cartridge. I bought A Creed for my wife to hunt with. I like it a lot as a low recoil option for sensitive shooters. Several deer have been killed with it and I was pleased with the results. To say it makes all other calibers obsolete, as some have, is complete nonsense.

You’ve been referring to cartridges, not calibers.

When man prayed to God for a deer rifle God provided the 270 because it’s perfect. Because man is imperfect and needed a second choice God created the 7-08 because it’s as close to perfect as you can get. There’s literally no other caliber that can compare to those two for whitetail deer hunting. I bought a 270. Just would not put them down like the ol 06. Took the scope off of it after 2 seasons and about 8 deer. and went back to where I belong. Fine caliber. Not for me. Then you have an ammo or accuracy issue.

The rest with130 Gr Noslar Partitions Chronographed at 3200 through both lungs and heart. All but one, which dropped, ran anywhere from 50 to 100 yards, leaving very little if any blood. All dead deer, but I do not like to look for them especially with no blood. Two of those deer I did not find until the next day due to poor blood trail. The meat was ruined. All the numbers suggest that it should be the perfect deer caliber. My experience was less than desirable. You might be right, maybe a different bullet would help with this problem, but after loosing two deer I was done with it. What bullet do you shoot in the .270.

.270 Hornady 140gr BTSP are my go to bullets. Can't seem to find them much anymore since they went to the American Whitetail stuff.
