Got the last one this morning.First time in years that I took all the birds off Skyline. I beat that guy to the spot this morning and that gobbler was ready to die.He answered my tree yelp at 5:30 and he died at 11:15.No telling how many times this bird got worked this season.Left a shell and couple of feathers for that fellow when gets there in morning.

That's freakin AWESOME man! Congrats! I can't fathom somebody having the patience, time, and prowess to kill 5 turkeys on Skyline WMA. After going up there one time with my Dad last year, getting on a red hot bird first thing, and some peckerhead driving right past our parked vehicle and right up under the gobbling bird on the limb well after daylight with his 4-wheeler and sending him to the next county and THEN stepping off the 4-wheeler and proceeding to walk up the mountain wide open blowing an owl call continuously....I pretty much decided my Skyline career was over as soon as it started.

Yes there are some real idiots from time to time.Had to wave a fellow off last friday while working one.People act like a bunch bass fisherman.

Exactly right. I quit bass fishing several years ago because I was so sick of all that stupid nonsense and I'll be dang if I'm gonna put up with it in the turkey woods. Bass fishing showed me how much I REALLY enjoy being in the woods ALONE or only with a good friend...pushed me toward turkey hunting and I'm so glad it did!

I've never hunted Skyline but if it's anything like the rest of the WMA's, you my friend have accomplished something that very few people will ever do! Congrats and my hats off to you.

It's just like ALL the other WMA's....... with the addition of 1000 ft. elevation changes.

They are tore up right now.Prob goin day or 2 without hens.They are so spooked up there it still makes for tough huntin.Toward lunch and low on mtns seem to be real key right now.

congratulations brother,I used to hunt skyline primarily and killed a ton of birds off of there,but I just got so tired of fooling with all the nonsense,most of the people that hunt there have no respect for the first come first serve rule and I believe crap up your hunt on purpose.that place has special meaning to me,killed my first bird there back many years ago,but I just cant make myself get out there anymore.

Thanks half the game is dealing with the people.When they aren't gobbling I? get a kick out of gobbling at thier owl hoots.Its funny you gobble and 20 min later you hear those walmart yelps give one gobble and leave.Guess thats mean but I enjoy it sometimes.

Man, you would never have to worry about me hunting your public land honeyholes because I don't have the patience for all that, but I would LOVE to go with you one time if for nothing else....just to get in on some of that "fooling an idiot with a gobble tube." I bet that is some fun stuff, but you're braver than me....I'm afraid I'd get shot by one of those idiots.

Yes you learn diff ways to have fun. I use to keep zip bag of feathers and spent shells just for fooling folks.If someone else knows about a bird, in the closet parking parking spot scatter feathers a little toilet paper and a shell.Figure that can be discouraging to stand and look at b4 daylight.Believe it or not there are places that you never see anyone.
