I was at the hunting camp the last 3 days bow hunting and did not see hide or hair of a deer. I have seen plenty before that just not within bow range. I noticed there was a full moon that came up shortly after sunset and was still in the sky at sunrise. I am guessing that the deer were feeding all night and maybe moved again during midday sometime. I hunted morning and evening as I normaly do with no luck. Just curious what effects people have seen with full moon and how they work around it. I even stayed in the stand a little later this morning to about 10:30 to see if they would move. Any input would be appreciated.

When there is a full moon I will sleep in. Get to my stand by 9 and TRY to hunt till dark. Sometimes I can't make it that long all the time. But the times I did make it was because the deer were movin. What i was taugh as a kid. If there is a full moon, hunt at noon!

I agree! I got a big buck moved on me between 11 and 2 last sunday. Second day of the full moon. Think I may sleep in tomorrow. Then again I may not. LOL. Something about sitting in that tree that owns me.

I have heard the same thing about hunting midday on a full moon, but it just does not feel right after hunting for so long at sunrise and sunset. Also I have never had any luck hunting midday, I guess if I ever saw anything in the middle of the day it would change my mind.

Ive saw a chitt load of deer this week. Not much stirring in the early am, but steady activity on acorns from 2pm till dark.

I read the fish & game forcast for the last few days & the peaks were around midnight & noon. I checked my cameras yesterday & I got pics at midnight & noon +/- a few minutes. I'll hunt the middle of the day when possible on a full moon.

My two biggest bucks were killed on a full moon. Both before 9:00 am. This past weekend I saw 6 deer and shot two. One in the morning and one in the after noon.

I love full moons!! thumbsup

Saw a decent 8 pt walking along a fenceline at 0800 this morning. Too much brush for a shot.
