I own a couple of these guns, think 1 or 2 are the stainless or whatever they call it and 1 or 2 are just blued, regular. Just bought a used one from somebody and the gun is blued, but the bolt is stainless. Was this a combination that was ever sold like this or did someone frankenstein this gun at some point? Haven't made it to my safe to look, but pretty sure all of my blued have same colored bolts.

On the Ruger website the blued models have a stainless bolt.

Dang they do, maybe all of my other ones are stainless and I don't have a blued until I got this one. Looked in my safe here and there were only stainless models. Can't remember what I have up at the camp safe. Well that's good I guess, I wasn't really that worried about it, but seemed odd...guess not. Might be a sign I have too many safe queens if I can't keep up with this...

I’ve owned a lot of rifles and I’m yet to see the accuracy that can beat the Hawkeye, now I’m talking hunting rifles and at 100 yards, but it may just fit me better so I don’t know, but that’s one rifle I can’t part with

I have a Hawkeye in a 308 and it shoots really good. I’ve killed several deer with it.

First gen m77’s have blued bolts and tang safeties. 2nd gen and after have stainless bolts and Mauser safeties. I have both, I prefer the older guns.
