Made a pot last night myself .

Maybe so first time making it and I used this as reference. I also noticed it varies region to region. I made some cause I was disappointed in a local dives version. This one was full of flavor, very robust and good heat. https://whatscookingamerica.net/Soup/Brunswick-Stew.htm

As you stated many people have there own and different version and what they/you like is what is important.

Nothing to it and why I mentioned the region thing. Seems BBQing is debatable with almost every aspect.
I’m joking about 90% of the time but it rarely appears that way.
