Last fall when my grandfather passed away we inherited his old Remington 742 chambered in 6mm Remington with a weaver mount. Had some junk red dot on it (dont remember the make) and im looking to put a quick eye relief or low power scope on it so it can be a good walking around gun. Any suggestions?

3-9 Redfield Widefield on JB Holden Ironsighters is early 70's old school. Of course the Redfield would be fogged up.

SMH. I still have a tasco on one of mine. It came on the rifle in the early 80's. Pretty sure it's gloss too. Still holds zero and works fine. Ya'll are just mean.

3-9 Redfield Widefield on JB Holden Ironsighters is early 70's old school. Of course the Redfield would be fogged up. Killed my first deer with a set of Holden Ironsighters and a Weaver 3-9 set up. Quite a few deer fell to that scope, between my great uncle and pawpaw... good times.

Mine has a Leupold Straight 6. Late 70s put on by my father.
Used to be a lifeguard, until that blue kid got me fired.
