I planted Leland Cypress and they did great for about 15 years, then some got some kind of disease and died. They now look like crap, the only reason they are still there is that my turd of a neighbor has to look at them 10 feet away whenever he looks out his kitchen window. I see them when I go to the pole barn and smile every time. I think if I wanted to plant for privacy I would plant bamboo. Plenty of choices out there, just be prepared to maintain it.

I like Jiffy cornbread.

I’d bet money that bagworns killed them. Leyland Cypress have become high maintenance plants. That’s why we don’t have any, anymore.

Wax myrtles are a native plant and make a great, fast growing, privacy screen if you don’t plant them too close together.

I’m pretty sure 257 planted some Wax Myrtles for a privacy screen.

Leland Cypress will eventually all get diseased and die. Every. Single. One.
