I typically don't like to plant until Oct 15th or later in SW AL, but I'm thinking about planting on Wed with the possible approaching storm and a current forecast of 90-100% chance of rain on Thurs and Fri. My question is how much is too much rain immediately after planting? My place is river bottom and 50% of the plots hold water in spots. My concern is if we get much rain it may be couple weeks before they dry up enough to put tractor back on plots. Plots have been tilled and are ready to go. Thanks in advance.

Heavy silt loam soils? I'd plant. May be Thanksgiving or Memorial Day before you can disc again. Especially with a tropical system. Some of those soils once they're wet they stay that way until early summer.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Better be planting. After this storm it’s liable to dry back up. I planted last weekend right ahead of that front that came through and my patches are up
