Depends what product you use.
I would say material wise, 3-4x the cost. If going composite, I wouldn't go with the cheap stuff.

One of our new builders was getting ready to build her house. She decided to wait when she got the new lumber package price. $20,000 over original quote.

Conventional should be reaching the price of composite I checked earlier this week and 5/4 treated decking had almost tripled and composite was only a little more expensive than treated. Ridiculous, I'll wait a while

Y’all hurtin rebelmans feelings. All this composite talk With the way lumber is priced right now, I'm pretty well convinced I'll be going with a red iron building. No wood to rot or termites.

Back in normal lumber price times, I coated my trailer lumber with herculiner. It's done pretty good.

I build a ton of decks with composite. I use the hidden screw fastner system. I also set my hoist on 12 inch centers to prevent warping And they think alot of those fastners

I am building a 12x40 deck with trex right now. I appreciate the consistency of each board but they offer no structural stability. Trexs recommendation is to put them on 16” centers. My preference is composite but if I were building a dock then I would use 2x4s

I have a 16" centered composite deck, trex's premium product that I installed. It's great. It's hot when the sun is on it but by 2:30 pm or so, our deck is out of the sun and you can walk on it barefoot. I've got a cooking station sitting on it with concrete countertops and a primo, I'm guessing 600+ lbs. No sag.
Our sealed x2 wood deck had boards rotting after 8 years. I'm not sure I'll ever have a wood deck again.
Having said all that, you could get board feet of wood deck for 1/3 to 1/4 what that trex product costs. You are talking $4.00+ per linear foot. I would spend it again in a heartbeat though.

Any way you would take up Brazillian hardwood (IPE) and replace it Trex? Don't think some people here at our condo realize the heat from Trex and the flexibility. IPE is 15 years old and some folks have gotten splinters in their feet. I feel like the IPE could last at least 50 years.
