I don't for one second believe that deer is 3 1/2
1. even a biologist aging one jawbone without a history of aging deer off that same property is shot in the dark.
2. bucks don't max out at 5, they say this because they rarely see a buck over five. "Most" bucks will add some length and more mass after five. My opinion after years of hands on watching em grow is they max at 7 or 8. I had a buck on my place that had his biggest antlers at age 13. I have seen several bucks that have their largest antlers at 8-10 yrs.

I always heard Deer max out at 7-8 as well.
