Depends on what your trying to accomplish, if you just want a few, you can dig up some seedlings. If you're trying to create some long term mast with some scale, the wildlife group is your ticket if you're looking for good survivability. I had really good success with their trees I planted 15 or so years ago. I picked them up from them but they ship if you need it. I have a bumper crop this year

Go to a sawtooth tree when they start to fall and pick up some. Plant in a 5 gallon bucket, holes in bottom with rocks, topsoil in top. Water regularly and then plant the trees that sprout. Pro tip protect from squirrels and chipmunks with wire or clear plastic with holes punched in top. Bastards dug 6” tall trees up to get the rest of the nut this spring.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Drop by the house and I will hook you up-for free! Just pick up the acorns and head to the woods after a rain. Take a piece of pipe, anything that will make a 1" depression in the soil. Drop the acorn in it and then step on it to cover. It will sprout before spring and be up to 2 foot tall come fall. I have literally planted thousands this way and it is the best way that is not labor intensive. I have carried a pocket full into the woods and just drop and step on them on the walk out. They come up this way just as well.
DO NOT PAY inflated prices for the container oaks.
