When it was evident that hitting him with their fists in an attempt to subdue him did not work. One of them should've pulled their maglite out and hit him in the side of the head a couple times with that. Probably would've bent up the maglite but they also probably would've been able to keep him out of the car.

Probably would've bent up the maglite but they also probably would've been able to keep him out of the car. I’ve seen people doped out on drugs take tazers with no issue, continue to fight. Also seen doped out guys fight several officers and win. Also seen guys doped out take gun shots to the chest and keep fighting for 2-3 minutes like nothing ever happened. They don’t stop until they die. Hitting that dude with a maglite probably wouldn’t have helped. When I first started my job in MS a new officer pulled a guy over and fight with him for 13 minutes until backup arrived. They were both beat senseless and the perp took several direct hits from a maglite to the face and head. Was unrecognizable but it didn’t slow him down one bit.

When I was a new officer I stopped an erratically driven car on night on a backroad below Moundville. Black man, 6-4, 275 pounds was polite at first, then bucked and tried to run. I kicked his feet out from under him, then he hit my thigh with his fist and tried to run again. I "helped" him run, then pushed his head down so he hit the back of my car and slid up on the trunk. He then reached into his coat pocket with his right hand, elbow up. I broke his elbow with a two cell mag light and cuffed him. He had a 25 auto in that coat pocket. I was exhausted. Next morning Judge Burke turned him loose and dropped all charges because he worked for a friend of his. I cussed the judge good enough to get threatened with jail myself.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Not naming names, but years ago, a guy i know very well pulled up to the light there at Mcdonalds in Demopolis and looked over and there was an officer fighting with a guy he'd pulled over. Guy got the officer down on the ground and was working on him pretty good. My buddy jumped out of his truck and ran over there to help and hit him on the side of the head with a 3 cell maglite one time. One swing, with the butt of the light starting just above his ear and the shaft running all the way down his jawline. Dude went limp as a ragdoll and did not even wiggle or twitch. It was like someone flipped off a light switch. Both he and the cop thought he'd killed him. That said, I had another buddy who worked reserve with the Bay Minette police, big guy 6'4" probably 235-240, literally, strong as an ox. One night, they were trying to arrest a guy for B&E at the Chruch's chicken, that was bad hopped up on drugs, and he said he hit him in the head as hard as he could swing with a maglite 10-15 times and it did not even phase the guy they were trying to arrest.

Training to the point where you can separate joints would not cost much or take much time. I bet you would be in big trouble with the district attorneys/judges that run a revolving door place for maiming them though. Phuck if I would do that job unless my family was starving.
It's sickening to watch the place get worse and you can't even choke someone out for trying to kill you any more.
