I got a tractor and implements from a family member that bought it all new in 1981. The bush hog is 5ft wide and bush hog brand . The seal started to leak under the stump jumper and after tearing it down we have decided to replace the 2 bearings on the shaft. Problem is I can’t figure what the model of the bush hog is and I’m trying to locate bearings and seal. The numbers on old parts are really odd having mostly letters instead o numbers. I haven’t had any luck just crossing numbers over. Any help would be appreciated. I’m pretty sure this is first time it’s been apart in 40 years.

A bearings parts store should be able to measure the shaft size and seals. Power and rubber supply in tuscaloosa could do it. You may have a store like it near you
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

message me the bearing and seal numbers. If my parts guy can't cross them over, I'll be surprised.

Well got it figured out and would have never guessed the parts were mtetric. 1981 5ft bush hog brand bush hog. It’s my understanding the parts came from across the pond and were assembled in Selma.

Motion Industries was always my best bet for odd bearings and seals.

Motion Industries was always my best bet for odd bearings and seals. I can second this. I have carried them bearings, belts, and bolts over the years. They have always been able to measure them and match. Also there are different quality bearings. Go ahead and spend a few extra bucks and get the best bearings, and save time later not having to re-do the repair. Also. I buy their Gloveworks Hunter orange rubber gloves by the box. They are great for keeping in my back pack for skinning deer. And are much tougher than the medical types. I do get a few stares when I wear them shopping.LOL

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Italian manufacture? I’m really not sure. I think the gear box is the only piece like that. For that to be the first time being taken apart in 40 years it gets a passing grade. It’s been in the family that long and I’ve been using it the last 10 and they say I’m hard on equipment.

I'd bet on Italian since LOTS of gear boxes for rotary cutters are still made over there.
