Hard to say without seeing the home. One color on the body another on the trim ect. How much scraping and sanding is involved. What paint do you want to use. Lot of variables...

New homes are simple. Nothing on walls or in the way. nothing to move or cover.

They ain't simple if you do it right, lota prep work.

If you are doing remodels/repaints right, you got to do a whole lot of prep work ... lot of holes to patch, cracks to re-caulk, but you got to do it around peoples stuff and keep the paint off the carpet/hardwood/tile.

You are correct. I've got several quotes out now and I remodel for a living. Don't care to paint but will if the job and proce is right[/quote]

My father was a high end builder for many years. He always said people want to paint there new house to save $. They think they can paint , BIL or buddy gonna help. He said they have it all wrong , hire a high end painter , they make everyone else's work look better and the DIY makes a mess out of it.

I can repaint with the best of the DIYers , I have enough sense not to take on a new construction.

Unfortunately some framers and trim carpenters think painters are miracle workers, but unfortunately there is only so much a painter can do. smile

Not the hardest thing in the world but definitely harder than when all walls and ceiling are the same color and un-straight lines where contrasting colors meet really, really stand out!

Not many true craftsmen around in any of the trades nowdays. It's crank them out fast as possible and on to the next one.

Trim is becoming a thing of the past too. Trim salesman from Chattanooga said the new wave is no trim, no crown, no cased openings , window casing, door casing. They have a "trim" drywall guy wrap windows , doors and openings. They run drywall down to where shoe or short base covers the edge where it meets flooring. Said it's how they are doing it in the Northeast US now. Yuck.

That's sounds really cheap and tacky. I'll admit I hate trim work, and there's definitely an art to it. Especially crown molding. But I couldn't imagine having no trim.

I thought Trox moved to Prichard. It looks like his grocery cart and bags of cans under the Loves exit underpass.

Son’s a contractor in Nashville and surrounding areas building high end homes and says that good trim crews and good paint crews are hard to find and if you do you better keep them happy and keep them busy.

I paint houses for a living. I painted a 2400 sq ft house a few weeks ago. I moved the furniture and repaired some bad spots on the walls. It was one coat on the walls only and they supplied the paint. Also sprayed a metal building. The bill was $2200 and by myself it took me a week. This week I painted 2 bedrooms, a hall, 2 bathrooms and a living room on a 1700 sq ft house. They moved the furniture and patched nail holes. This was also walls only and they supplied the paint. It took 2 days and cost $600.

For some reason, I thought you might have been in the pest control business?
