Real fine knapping and sharp, but it’s only notched on one side. I can find em good, just can’t identify em. Best guess from a google search shows bullen knife from the woodland period maybe?

That looks more like a fresh ding than a notch to me but it could just be the picture.Patina looks different and the edge looks more like a break than finished knapping. It’s a great point in any case. No clue on type I am terrible on Bama typology.

No it’s not a ding, it’s definitely notched. Maybe just poor lighting in the picture. It’s got small precise knapping along the sides, not serrations, but close.

Most likely that was a knife blade and the notch is where the haft attached to the blade, IMO. It is possible that it once was a point that broke at some time so they repurposed it.

The base of that point broke off way back then and they re-touched the break so that it could be used as a scraper/knife tool. It doesnt have a classification name but it likely dates to the late archaic up to the middle woodland period. So about 4500BC to 500AD.
