Yesterday my stepson was talking about getting new wheels for his car with his mom in the living room. He was talking about getting some bronze rims and they were googling pics and sites to get prices. When he left I asked her why he wanted bronze rims for his red car.
Next time that I opened facebook guess what ad popped up?
I didn't google bronze rims or anything. I just mentioned it to my wife. I assume that my phone, that was off, picked up the conversation and boom.
More likely is that he was on your home wifi and your network saved the cookies from the sites he was googling, and when you turned your phone back on, presumably also on your home wifi, it showed you the same ads.

I once was fondling a new TenPoint xbow at Mark’s and talking to my son about it. Within 5 minutes I had an email from TenPoint with details on the exact bow I had looked at. Within a couple hours I had ads for that bow every time I went on the net.

How many times do you have to be told anything attached to GOOGLE is listening. This is repeated at least every other month. If you don't like it, get a flip phone without any smart technology. Have you put tape over the cam on your PC yet ? Do you use Alexa in your home? You are doing it to yourself.

Not sure why anyone is surprised by this anymore. Americans have voluntarily given up their privacy for the sake of comfort for well over a decade. THIS. All started with the Patriot Act.

What? I did not know this. Your router also saves cookies? I attributed it to my phone listening to my conversation while it was off.

I don't pretend to be an IT expert by any stretch of the imagination...........but I know I've googled things on my phone and had ads pop up on my computer, and vice versa. My assumption is that it's because all the devices were "connected" via the same network.

We were RVing with come friends and we played a game. Everyone opened google and Facebbok and set the phone on the table. Then we wrote down a topic and starting discussing it. The next day two of the seven had ads for barbie dolls (we dont have girls) encyclopedia sets, medication for analglycoma, and bbq grills.
