saltwater is the enemy of all things boating. Remember the old saying, "boats are really just holes in the water that you throw money into."

He's right. I hate to be negative, but unless you're going to be at the ocean a lot, I would sell that thing and stay over.

Well I’ve been hitting it with kroil the past few days, taking a ball peen hammer and a flat punch and tapping it. Hoping to loosen this thing up. I am going to attempt the reform the slot to whatever extent possible with a cold chisel. Gonna spend some time trying to make something to get a good bite before I try to get it with a manual impact driver. Going to have to replace the part either way, figured I’d give this a try until i am forced to extract it. You can bet your butt that bleed off screw will receive regular attention. Live and learn. I’d have just paid the man to do this job, but they’re backed up several weeks. I would imagine they’ve seen a few of these but I’m sure they’d have charged appropriately for the headache.

Well my plan worked, sorta. Made a good slot and got the screw to move about a 1/3 of a turn before my slot failed. Maybe now it will be easier to get with the ease out. Hopefully someone local has a seal kit. I placed an order with Crowley marine for some stuff for my Yammy 5 horse on 6/28. Hasn't shipped, and they have no idea when it will. Didn't have any trouble charging my credit card though. rolleyes

Well, I finally got the bleed screw out, new seals in. I bought a kit from 5 Star Marine in Port Richey FL, that had all new viton seals, O rings, and the right spanner wrenches to get the end caps off. Good folks to deal with. Very easy job in reality.

I'll take this time to send out a PSA. Take care of your tilt and trim unit, before you have to learn about them like I did. I can promise I won't let this happen again.
