I have a cow elk hide I want soft tanned with the hair on. Anyone ever had a soft tanned hide done and have a taxidermist/hide tanner that they can recommend? I have three kids 5 years old and under so I don’t have a big enough time-block to do it myself but really want it done. The animal was about 425 lbs.

I've had a couple of deer hides tanned. The taxidermist sent them to a tannery somewhere and they came back great with the hair fully intact. That was over 25 years ago and they're still just like the day I got them back. I'd expect that any GOOD taxidermist has a tannery that he can send hides to. Call around and you'll find one.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Is a bull elk hide that’s 9 years old in a freezer beyond the time limit of tanning? Would all the hair pull? Asking for a friend 😁

I have several hides in my room.
Some are 15+ years old and get walked on regularly.
Call you taxidermist and he can send it for you or you can do it yourself.
Carolina fur.
Seminole fur.
And there are a few others around the south.

I’m actually in central Mississippi so no drop off to Phoenix, might be able to trade
It off to get it to Birmingham area.
Looking like Carolina fur and Seminole are the way to go but I need to get it fleshed first. Is that something most taxidermists can do? Looks like both of those places want you to go through a taxidermist first anyways.

Also you can take a pressure washer with a turbo nozzle and flash it. Just salt it good when it drips dry.
