Probably gonna do a shrimp boil for father's day. Wish I could eat nasty crawfish, but whatever. What's y'all's recipe. Probably gonna do shrimp, coneka sausage, maybe a little chicken, potatoes, corn on cob, onions and mushrooms. This is my second time doing one. So I need some input on ingredients and cooking times.

Crawfish is a staple of my diet!
But regardless of that, you need to add some sliced lemon, orange, garlic cloves and Brussel sprouts.

If you can find some Alaska King crab, it's a perfect addition to a shrimp boil.

That's a 30# box. That'll feed a whole bunch of people. There's a place in Montgomery, J&D seafood, where you can buy it by the pound fresh.

Do not use Old Bay seasons, it's horrible.
Use Zatarans or Louisiana brand crawfish season.

I do um all the time. Inexpensive, easy and damn good.
In my opinion the mistake most folks make is using bag seasoning. It don’t get down in the shrimp and corn.
Water to a rolling boil
Add seasoning
Small / medium red potatoes cut in half boil 20 minutes
Add a bunch of Conecuh ten minutes
Add corn ten minutes
Add shrimp and as soon as they turn pink they done. Over cook shrimp will ruin it.

Will probably get verbally abused based on this but, I was shown a little different way to do a boil and have stuck to it.

Don’t boil everything together at once.
Start with progressive amounts of seasoning instead of all at once in the beginning.
Boil the items that take the longest to cook first and put in a cooler as you go.
Boil the shrimp, crawfish, crab legs or whatever last. Going back to the progressive seasoning. You can make the first batch of crawfish or whatever more mild. Last batch you can turn up the heat to whatever you want.
Not only progressively add seasoning but after the individual batches, you should replenish the butter, garlic and sliced lemons as well.

When you do it this way all the food stays warm in the cooler and cooks the right amount time and you can adjust the seasoning/heat as you go.

Might have to throw some crab in, that sounds good.

Punch lid on 2 cans of green beans. Take labels off cans. Throw them in first. Let em soak up some of that hot seasoning. Be best green beans you ever had along with your shrimp boil

I'm usually throwing in about 4 of each, sliced in half, using a 10 gallon boiler.

Actually, this is the correct way. Corn, taters, shrooms and sausage go in first, seafood should wait. It only takes a couple minutes to cook the shrimp.
