Big Al I feel the same way. I have never been to a store that made me pay before the background check was done. Their place of business and policy but I would have to shop elsewhere. Worked in a gun store in Newnan, GA. for several years and we never "sold" the weapon until after the person cleared the background check.

I didn’t really understand paying up front.. but I assumed I would be walking out with them like usual... they said it should be cleared by the 11th.... not sure how they know that but I also heard they could call earlier as well... it’s a nice store with plenty of guns and ammo.. I just have never had to pay ahead of time.. but it’s also not my store👍

Real problem though is the FBI not being able to handle the volume of sales and delaying everyone when their system overloads. Alabama had the Conceal Carry Permit option in lieu of a background check but the corrupt county sheriffs were giving out permits without doing background checks. Lots of felons got permits, lots of felons used these permits to buy guns through licensed dealers. When warned they still didn't stop so the result is back to the FBI check in every sale. As far as knowing when it will clear, every morning an employee spends 30 minutes to review all delays. They check to see if any cleared overnight then call the buyer. The FBI has three business days on a delay to deny or the sale or its transferred to the buyer.

That's why they get your phone number. They should call back but if you don't hear from them I'll be in on the 11th (Thur) and will check first thing. I'd call them tomorrow.
