The whole church calls him "PC" (pastor Chris), and it's just a nickname like family members would give each other. Don't guess I've ever called him that, but I haven't really ever thought of what I'd refer to him as. Chris Hodges is his name.

No I didn't, never would've crossed my mind, but again that's some twisted context. I won't disagree with you about the spirit of it, but it's badly misappropriating the specificity of what was going on in that particular passage. Not sure why folks want to get all pissy and defensive about it....this is about the same response(s) I got on Facebook. Just about everybody was exclusively pissed off that I had somehow burned the flag, apparently having no concept whatsoever about the point in question. Why would a church make a statement that is in no way transitive to their purpose, and worse, offensive and exclusionary to the any segment of the public?

Let's give you the floor, enough of my opinion.... let's hear you defend a church putting "America: Love it or leave it!" on their roadside reader board.

I’m not going to defend it. I actually agree with you that it is in really poor taste and flat out wrong. That said, look at the harm you did, or potential harm you did to the reputation of the church. Not THAT church, but THE church. Think about folks that had not seen the sign, that were lost but looking for answers, maybe thinking about going to church, until they saw your post. This is a great example of the old saying, “Christianity is the only army that shoots their wounded”. The fact that you are getting defensive shows you know you are in the wrong. Don’t get mad at me brother. We are called to hold each other accountable. Many Aldeer brothers have done so with me. Repent, then live and learn.

For what it's worth, that Facebook post was initially "soft" and (to me) shouldn't have been argumentative. But wow it immediately blew up like a bomb. As I remember there must've been 75+ replies, and most of them were a back n forth about political stuff. I mean it didn't take but a minute for someone to throw a blister keg of insults about how I must be a ghey Democrat. And I'm like WTH are you talking about????....how did you leap to that connection?? I literally was trying to condemn that church, and the whole post derailed about everything but church.

Maybe pastor chris should just stay off the book of faces if hes interested in whats best for him and his ministry

Who cares if folks say you are back tracking. I got in a really bad way a few years ago and really said/did some things to hurt the church. I had to eat a whole lot of crow over it and apologize to a lot of folks. Believe me, as Paul said, I’ the chief sinner, and my temper doesn’t always allow for a “soft” answer. You’re a bigger man for letting the anger go.

PREACH!! If he's not strong enough to simply read post, nd smile if he agrees, and pray if he doesn't, he should just stay off of it. Keep politics out of your business and the church is his business.

In all fairness, as well, maybe the lady that was the complainant should follow the Bible in being quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. As a black female, I seriously doubt that she will be challenged, though. She's not the Pastor but she is also a representative of THE church.

This in a nutshell.

Pastor Chris be like:

Everybody's a victim. Everybody isn't responsible for his/her own actions. Decisions should NOT have consequences... at least bad consequences, anyway! You DESERVE the best in life just because you're human and you're you. It's not your fault; blame others! The world owes YOU!

The aforementioned is of the devil's beliefs. Well, actually, the devil doesn't believe the statements above either, but he wants you to believe them! And you can substitute "devil" with the word, Media. CNN, NBC, etc... Oh, Hollywood wants you to believe those statements, too!

It's gotten bad!!!

I'll say this... Pastor Chris is a great person. He's a leader of God's word and he's a leader that is genuine. So, that, in and of itself makes him a target!

You are incorrect, sir. That church may not be your cup of tea and I’ll be the first to admit it’s an acquired taste. But the message and the man bare no resemblance to that video.

So, just to be clear, the person that complained did not follow scripture in Matthew 18 where it says, "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you". Church discipline is a very important part of the church and there's a reason why the church strives to handle it internally between Believers. I feel like she has harmed the church more than the Pastor.

This whole thread demonstrates why no one should be on faceplant. What a cluster.
