Pastor Chris is showing his true colors. The color of green.

People have been looking for some reason to bring that Church down for a long time. I'm surprised it has taken this long to make a serious attempt.. The black lady that brought all this up by scrutinizing Pastor Chris' posts on social media was hoping to get some kind of reaction. Either reaction that Pastor Chris gave would have been the wrong one to large groups of people. That's what the enemy does. They try to put conservative Christian leaders like President Trump in a no win situation.

We are not members, but we attend there when we are in town and there are tons of black people in every Highlands service that I have ever been to. Pastor Chris is no kind of racist. I'm not going to judge him on his response. He's a man of God, so his response is between him and God. Lord knows I am far from perfect myself. If it weren't for God's grace I wouldn't even be here.

I’ve been going to Highlands for a long time and I think it’s unfortunate that Pastor Chris apologized for liking conservative posts on Instagram. He didn’t do anything wrong. Folks are saying that Charlie Kirk is a white supremacist so therefore Pastor Chris is as well. (Neither one are white supremacist or racist, they’re just conservative Republicans)

For those of you saying he apologized because of money then I assume you are ignorant about how COTH operates. I don’t think there is another church in the US that gives as much money away as highlands does to local and international missions. It’s the most fiscally responsible church I’ve ever heard about or been a part of. Pastor Chris makes a good living but he’s not in it for the money

Also a seasoned member of Highlands here. The church has made an intentional effort to minister to and create a presence in the "black neighborhoods". If you think kid gloves and intentional actions aren't necessary, you're just being intentionally blockheaded (as am I too many times). Unless you're on the inside of our doors, you probably aren't aware of the major push back the black community has given us. In the couple of years we've planted a congregation there, it has been beyond fantastic, many bridges have been crossed and much growth is being seen. Of course you and I don't want the preacher to crawfish, but he's absolutely NOT doing it for money (come on y'all, that's one of the most shallow and baseless accusations, absolutely nothing about Highlands supports that assertion), and he's not being weak-spined. He's doing the necessary "falling on the sword" to maintain our ability to minister to these locations / populations.

At the end of the day, NOTHING whatsoever matters outside of the gospel of scripture. Chris Hodges is about as careful of a man as I've ever seen, but I think he realized "crap, that's a BAD LOOK, I shouldn't have done that and strained the ties we've been working so hard to bind." That earns more respect from me than his stiff lipped arched back over some (ultimately) meaningless social/political/cultural preferences. Don't forget the context....he is a gospel preacher, period.

That is what has me concerned. I have never met the man, but I would have trouble following a man who willing to fall on his sword on his personal believe to reach a group of people. What is next......Allah is ok......to reach a group of people.

That's a game of gymnastics you're playing, really stretching to connect points. We're not talking about blasphemy here, we're talking about setting aside a man's scripturally-irrelevant preferences for the greater good of Kingdom work.

But sometimes I forget how most folks operate... several months ago a small country church in my neck of the woods put on their reader board, "America: Love it or leave it!" (side note, this church is literally next door to a trailer park full of Mexicans, which I thought was relevant). I took a picture of the board and put it on Facebook, and (nicely) called it out for what it was--complete and total wicked bullshux! It is of ZERO concern to the church what someone's political ideals are. They might as well have written on that board, "If you ain't a good ol' country white boy with a "Murica flag on your truck, then go to Hell!" I got absolutely DESTROYED on Facebook, called a faggot, liberal, had my theology questioned, and honestly had one particular long time "friend" who won't even talk to me anymore. He literally took his insurance business away from me because of it.

It's the same in this situation. For Chris Hodges to "stick to his beliefs" is the equivalent of him telling minorities (or basically anyone who doesn't share his biblically-irrelevant personal ideals) to go to Hell. It's like saying, you ain't welcome in this church unless (fill in the blank with something that has nothing to do with church).

Is Chris his last name? Or is he the only Pastor named Chris in all of the Churches in America.

People need to quit apologizing for being white and being conservative constitutionalists and (real) Christians.

Charlie Kirk is an American hero and he is not racist and neither is his organization.
His organization is a God send to educate people especially the college crowd.

Plenty with appropriate frequency at the churches I have been a part of for the past 25 years.

Fair Point....Matthew 18 principles often get forgotten in this age of instant posts and information sharing.

Summary:

- A black woman went on social media and posted screenshots of him "liking" these posts
- She claimed that it made it hard for her to tell where his heart truly was (victim mentality)
- She asked him to come out and give his stance
- He issued an apology
- She was never asked to give her stance and her social media history wasn't exposed to the world because who cares?

I got no respect for any man that won’t stand for what he believes. Chris is just another puppet that will fall for anything that keeps him popular and paid. That’s what ls wrong with the world today.

I watch the stuff happening and feel shame for having fought and watching friends die to defend it, the people in this once great nation deserve everything coming for continually swallowing the little turds that didn’t matter much.
