Need some advice.
I'm planting 1 acre WMS Pea Patch. 1 acre LabLab n Corn.
Tilled ground Monday. Rained all day Tuesday. Spread fertilizer and seed this morning. Good rain expected this afternoon/tonight.
Ground is fairly clumpy....not as fine as it is normally when I till (this is a new field, never planted)…..I normally would cover either with a chain link fence or I have used the tiller (keeping it high and just moving some dirt around)
I'm thinking I may not cover?? Let the rain come and just leave it alone......there is still a good amount of thatch left on the ground on most of the field now.
Thoughts??

I'd just let the rain handle it

I went back to cover 2 patches this morning and the rain had covered it good enough. Corn, peas and lablab. I gave up on the 2 row.planter because of too much rain. Broadcasting it all now.

Wish I had seen this earlier. We planted about 10 days ago and were unable to get about 1 1/2 acre dragged in because of a deluge. Its pretty easy to see the difference, dragged or packed on right uncovered to left. These fields got great rain for almost a weed including hard rain and was very soft tilled.yte beans/corn did not get contact/germination.I may be OK with beans but corn did very poorly. My five way mix to the right of poles and the front of picture did best and they were run over with the tires of my electric buggy.I wish I did that to center of bean/corn field but did not have time.
