People get pretty serious about this wuhan flu thing, both sides. I cant for the life of me figure out why anybody would alter their life completely because of it. Im sure theres alot of folks who cant see how im living life as usual with this monstrous disease out there. I had a customer call me today talking about how serious the covid is and hes staying at home and not coming in contact with anyone but I can come look at his tree and call him with the estimate. I couldnt get off the phone quick enough. I also did a job for a doctor today who said he had not seen anyone test positive yet, they had tested a few but no positives. He is taking a plane to houston in a couple days, saod he wasnt worried the least bit about the covid, wasnt fixin to drive 14hrs because of it. Absolutely crazy how different two people can see the same thing.

I think that there are a good number in both camps. There are those who are terrified of it ending up in their backyard and others who won't care or be cautious until it does show up in their backyard. Things that happen somewhere else are just that - right up to the point that it is in your specific neighborhood.

I like seeing opposing viewpoints on here. It makes it more interesting and you just might actually learn something. In the serious threads people should just keep their posts intelligent and civil.

Exactly! I’ve never understood why a bunch of grown men would let a Internet forum post from a stranger be so important to them.

Oh I forgot that doesn’t happen in today’s politically correct driven society.

I was on this sight before 2000 and it’s definitely changed. People use to give a guy named Big Jack hell about his democratic stances be he never tucked tail not even up to the day he passed same with several others.

The recent ones you may be talking about have nothing to do with "snowflakes" complaining to mods. There are a couple here who are crossing some lines with what they do and they had to be addressed. There are things that go on that you probably don't see and things have to be done to keep things civil. I use my best judgement to decide if I should get involved in any of the threads and there is no way I will ever please everyone. Personally, I have deleted maybe 3 threads and given 2 "timeouts" since I have been moderating so if anyone ever accuses me of "censoring" or "over moderating", they are full of crap and I will gladly tell them so to their face if need be.

Therein lies the problem........civil. Some folks just don't have it in them to be that way.

yep the new generation is what I refer to at work as the tattle tale generation. They were taught this in school, to tattle on small stuff. but when someone gets raped on the streets all they can say is snitches get stitches. should be the other way around.

Too many grown folks get their panties in a wad when hearing an opposing view.

I might be off base but I don't think anyone ran and told on anyone in the thread that got deleted or the previous ones, either. Outdoorobsession couldn't discuss his differences without going completely apeshit calling people names and PM'ing people threatening them. I've never reported him, or anyone else, to any moderator or asked that he be banned for anything he's said to me now, or in years past. I've always figured it was best to let him go off and show people his true colors and he rarely disappoints.

FYI.
I talked with skinny and we reduced ODO's suspension to 24 hours. I've also contacted ODO about the issue. It's been resolved for now.
Bottom line, guys, keep it in the forums even if it gets ugly. Once you go down that PM rabbit hole, it gets personal and dangerous.
Don't take it that far.

Christ guys, it's an internet forum. You don't have to live with the people you don't like, just treat them like the cousin you don't like and ignore them.
