I like loading my crew ranger on my 14’ dovetail tandem axle trailer a lot better than a 14’ straight trailer. Same with my riding mower. I'm about to build a trailer for a 3 seater buggy and have pretty much decided on a 6x12 with a drop axle and a slight dovetail. I'm thinking I won't need much ramp and in some places maybe not even need them. I figure I can reduce the chance of dragging by putting the axle a little farther back. I guess your setup is about the same, a little longer trailer and a little longer buggy. Any thoughts on this design? Better go 6' 6" clearance in width. I like my dovetail on my 14' trailer. I don't even use the mesh ramp. My Viking in 4WD will climb right up but I can usually find a ditch or hump that makes it easier.

Trust me, that tall, expanded metal gate will cause more drag than a loaded utv. I used to pull mine with our 2500HD diesel and I could feel the difference and see the difference at the pump, whenever I didn't take the gate off. This man speaks the truth

These weakass 1/2 ton trucks won’t pull a greased string out a cats ass these days. Mine sucks with any trailer behind it. But I hate a 3/4 ton ride on these field roads

I brought it home on a 6' wide trailer and it fits fine with about 6" to spare on each side. I'm trying to make it as trim, width wise as possible, as I hope to get my wife to pull it now and then when needed and I don't like replacing fenders. I'm going to build it like a mini car hauler with no sides so I won't have a need to walk down the side of the trailer to get off and on. and it will actually be 6'4" between the fenders. That's what I'm hoping, is to be able to climb on and off without using ramps. I will build small stowable ramps in case I need to use it for the kids golf cart or something. On flat ground, how tall do you reckon your trailer is in the rear from the ground?

That heated tailgate is for our hard working road crews that are out on the sides of the highways putting to use our 75 cent gas tax that will NEVER go away for us. That's a fine heated bench for 6 of them to sit on while one guy slowly works on something.
Heated tailgate will soon be standard and raise the truck price at least another $2-3,000 after the Union's cut.
I derailed it. So getting back on track....
I have seen some setups with slide in ramps on the rear that actually slid in from the back. Not the more common setup that you would remove and didn't stow from the side. I liked that. Wouldn't work with a dovetail and I am sure would not be much count for a mower or something low..... but for a UTV they were pretty awesome. I think maybe Lone Wolf built that trailer.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
