I bought this little feller for pretty much nothin. I believe it was an apache hardshell pop up from the 70's at one time, but it has since been converted to a little camper. Its basically a metal shell thats been pop riveted together, and has a little steel frame on the inside for its bones. Im tearing everything out and making it bomb proof(not literally) with either 3/4 coosa board walls and subflooring, or starboard/HDPE. I intend to also insulate with spray foam and lay waterproof luxury vinyl planks for foot traffic. I will have my work cut out for me, but....im pretty handy when i need to be.[Linked Image]

My family camped in one of those Apache campers for many a night in the 70’s. We made a trip from Florida to California and back and the 6 of us had a great time. It had Fiberglas pull-out extensions that we could set up quickly- 3 minutes was our record when the skeeters nearly carried us away!

In 1990 myself and two buddies did the same. Bought the bus that had a decent motor in it for three hundred dollars and no seats. Built four beds, installed a metal pre fab fireplace , painted it camouflage and off we headed to the woods. Motor blew within thirty miles of our sixty mile journey. Pulled it the rest of the way with a 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 with a 454 V8 in it. Got it parked, dropped the motor, fuel tank, leveled it up, built a deck and covered porch. Used it for years until a controlled burn jumped the fire break and burned it up.

Kudos for giving that a shot, but I think I would have rather started from scratch with a Harbor Freight utility trailer frame than started with that thing. That just looks like a lot of work to me.
