Alright. Who follows the manufactures recommendation. I’ve heard some people say do it and some say don’t. I’m at 50k on a 16 Silverado. Trying to decide

I drive a Tacoma. 300,000 and never serviced.

Change fluid and filter every 100,000 miles. Add one pint of Lucas. It'll run forever.
Never ever do a transmission flush for any reason. Don't let any "expert" talk you into it.

I have a good friend who worked for Tuscaloosa Chevrolet. He feels the same way. I asked him right after I posted this.

Agree. drop the pan and change the filter(s). Though I don't use the Lucas I have heard several who believe in it. And I like the 80k interval for whatever reason.

I would do it myself apparently these new transmissions don't have a dipstick so I would really have to study up on it. heck my 19 silverado trans aint the smoothest piece anyways so I know Iam gonna do it at 50k.

Y'all are not making me feel good! I just had my 2011 F150 transmission flushed yesterday at 150000 miles. Can you tell me why I shouldn't have done it. I'm told that dropping the pan only gets rid of 1/2 the fluid. I'm headed to the Florida Keys in July and I sure don't need to be on the side of the road broke down.

Flushing pushes loose metal particles back through your transmission. Transmissions have a filter or screen that can plug up when it’s flushed. You're flushing chunks through your system causing internal damage. If you have a filter – it needs to be replaced. Or if it's just a screen, it needs to be taken out and washed. They don’t do that when it’s flushed. Flushing won't cause the transmission to fail but it may speed up the process because it pushed metal particles back through the system. Anyone who does transmission work for a living would never flush their own transmission. That should tell all you need to know.

Non-sense. Most quality trans service machines don’t push anything. They are merely a valve/holding tank for your transmission. The cars/trucks trans pump simply pumps out the old while sucking in the new. They add zero pressure to the system. It’s just a simple fluid exchange. With dropping the pan you are leaving half to 2/3 old burnt fluid.

Keep drinking that cool aid. I'll keep running my transmissions over 500,000 with no problems, using my proven method.

I am about to do mine on my Ram, just passed 100k mark. I always knew that dropping the pan and changing the fluid only changed about a 1/3 of the fluid, didn't understand why the manual didn't call for some sort of flush or removal of the other fluid trapped in the vehicle. Now I understand.

Well since I had it flushed yesterday, I I'll keep a watch on it and let yall know. I had it done at a ford dealership and they gave me the option of dropping the pan and cleaning the screen or flushing it. Both cost the same so I went with the flush. It's got 150000 miles on it. If you do google research its about 50/50 depending on who you ask if its good or bad.
