I know a deer will most any plant if hungry, but what vegetable plants have you had success with in deer populated areas and which are most likely to be eaten by deer? In particular , do they like okra and okra leaves ?

they will eat the shitt out of okra and the leaves.

They dont eat the plants with a dog laying beside them. Other than that, weve had deer eat just about everything.

I've never seen a deer eat them. I believe tomato plants are poisonous to deer.

This! They ate a 100’ row last year and only left the stem lol. So we killed 3 does this past winter.

I’ve actually done well with southern peas or cow peas. For some reason they won’t destroy them to later in the season and we get enough for the freezer. But in a span of 48 hours, later in the year, they can eat an acre or two down to the ground.

They'll eat anything you plant. It's best to just plant enough for you and them if you can't fence it in

deer are different looking goats, they will et anything. Friend of mine plants his garden in a fenced area and than another fenced area about 6 foot from the first and has a couple dogs in that 6 foot area. Only thing to keep deer out. Before he built the outer fence deer would jump the inter fence .Before he built the outer fence a buck tried to jump the inner fence got caught and tore the whole fence down.

I don't think they eat red potato plants. At least we have never had them eat them and since the potatoes are under ground they cant get to that.

Yep, first thing I thought when I read this post.

Put me up a solar powered electric fence . Hope it works sick of deer eating garden. Coon pull down corn an eat it. Put one strand 4” off ground for coons an rabbits an two more above that. Gonna put little peanut butter on it for them to lick. Hope it knocks them out . They eat my beans an peas every year. Coons get corn an coyotes get watermelon. Im at my last hope.

I can't think of anything that grows they won't eat. They do prefer some over others.

I used to plant twice as many beans as I wanted so I could have some after the rabbits got to it. They just kept multiplying and eating them all. I finally got sick of it and grew them in raised beds. Now I'm starting over in a new house/garden so we will see how that goes

UPDATE!! just got home an seen crows in garden. They walked down corn rows an dug up every kernel. How the hell do they know i planted corn. Pisses me off. Didn t bother rows of peas or green beans. Im fighting a losing battle with critters
