I have a one acre pond. This is year 4 for us to own it. Last year when weather started to warm the algae seem more present than the first two years. I bought some pond treatment “algae killer”. I never applied it because it cleared up when the em temps got hot. This year it is worse than last spring. It’s slimy goo. Most below surface is bright green. Surface it looks brown green. We had 10-11 carp when we bought it. I only see 4-5 these days. Any help???

Wednesday my son had 20lbs of Tilapia put in his 3 acre pond to eat the algae.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I just bought 20 grass carp from Lefthorn for the same problem. I hate that crap. It makes fishing almost impossible.

As posted, tilapia, carp, or chemical. It is worse this year due to lack of winter and extended “cool” weather

Shoot me a pm

20 lbs in a 3 acre pond probably not enough honestly. Depends on how bad the algae is and how many bass are in there

10lbs of Tilapia per acre and the fish were $10 per lb so $200. His pond doesn't have a lot of algae so the guy that he's dealing with said 20lb was good.

How will tilapia interact with and affect Tiger bass and blue gill brim?

Bass love to eat small tilapia. That is why there are large bass in those lakes in Mexico

As far as bluegill, no issues. They play together well. If nothing else, it gives the bass more to eat so your bluegill get a break

What would be an approximate cost to stock a 2ac pond in Ashville, al with tilapia? It’s loaded with tiny bass and huge bream. I know I need to remove some bass. I would rather have a pond full of 3lb instead of a handful of 10lb.

Does it have any flowing water to it? I think most people put in a small pump fountain to help to the algae down. Depending on how bad it gets, it’s going to be tough to get anything to live in algae filled stagnant water.

That stuff looks like Rock Snot to me. It's a big problem up north because it gets carried in on boats and guys that use waders that don't clean them after using. There's talk about putting in a boat wash in the marina I use in Oswego, NY
