I am considering an M2 20ga turkey build gun for next season. I am left handed so I want to be sure about it before I purchase one. Are the triggers bad, average, or good on these guns? Is there an aftermarket improvement? Can they be improved through a gunsmith if necessary?
In my experience there is no better substitute than experience. Those of you that have one, thanks for the feedback!

I’ve owned three Benelli shotguns. Only one needed some trigger work. In my opinion, nothing points like a good Benelli.

I own two M2s and just bought a Franchi 20 gauge for my new turkey gun. The Franchi looks very similar to the Benellis. Both my M2s are in 12 gauge. One is my duck hunting gun and the other is my old turkey gun. Honestly, for turkey hunting, you just don't pull the trigger that often. I've never used a customized trigger but I have always found the factory triggers to be adequate. I might take that money and spend it on optics. I bought a red dot sight for my Franchi and really like it.

I'm left handed like you and my right hand M2s are great shooters. You will be very pleased.

I own 3 Benelli shotguns and don't notice bad triggers on any of them. However my expectations for a shotgun trigger are pretty low.

The triggers are good on all of mine.

The triggers are good enough to be on a shotgun. I have 3, love all of them just as much as my kids and more than my wife.

I own 2 Benellies. A m2 20ga and a sbe2. Triggers are good. Not like a rifle trigger , a little stiffer but you dont have to squeeze until your knuckle turns white.

Rob Roberts did a trigger job on my affinity. Made it much much better. My benelli shotguns have had good triggers with no need for work.

Seems to be a pretty strong consensus. This is enough reason to come into these boards. Great first hand information from folks nice enough to share honest opinions. Thank you all!

I have a 12gauge and never gave the trigger any thought. It would have to be really bad for me to notice it on a shotgun.

I had a gunsmith work my trigger on my M1 12 and M2 20 and it made a noticeable difference. Is it necessary? Absolutely not, but I like the worked trigger much better.

^^

Same thought process for me on my SBE2 with ducks. Great guns.

I've had three M2s - a 12 and two 20s - and they all had decent shotgun triggers, by which I mean they're not gritty and break cleanly (even if the pull weight is a bit stouter than what you'd want on a target rifle.

I shot my first perfect round of skeet with the 12 and killed my first gobbler with it.

I killed my last two gobblers with the two 20s respectively. This year's was at 40 yards with only the bead and I never noticed the trigger at all.

I ordered the M2 Compact today at Simmons in Bessemer. Will drop it by Jays Hydrographics, then to someone to reverse the safety and drill and tap for red dot. Any suggestions for a choke for a good hunting pattern would be welcome. I will be shooting tss 9, 1 5/8 oz 2 3/4” loads. I would prefer an even 20” pattern at 40 yards. I don’t need a 60 yard gun where I usually hunt. Thanks again guys!
